The search has been suspended Tuesday morning due to inclement weather, officials told First Coast News. The two people went missing Monday night.

PUTNAM COUNTY, Fla. — Several law enforcement agencies have put a search on pause Tuesday morning for “at least one person” who went missing Monday night after falling into the St. Johns River while shrimping on a dock in Palatka, according to the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office.

According to the sheriff’s office, two people fell off Palatka City Dock and Boat Ramp, located at 319 River St. Afterward, several people jumped in the river to help, PCSO said.

“At least one person reportedly never resurfaced,” PCSO said in a Facebook post.

According to PCSO, the search started and was suspended Monday night, resumed Tuesday at 7 a.m., then has been suspended again as of 9 a.m. Tuesday due to inclement weather.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission told First Coast News they have provided boats and a dive team to assist PCSO and the Palatka Police Department in the search and recovery.

FWC is the lead agency on this incident.

PCSO is asking the public to avoid the area around the dock and boat ramp until further notice.

First Coast News will provide updates on this situation as soon as more information becomes available.
