GIBSON CITY, Ill. (WCIA) — Gibson City’s Harvest Moon Twin Drive-in Theatre will be celebrating and honoring the memory of one of its owners.
On July 27, the drive-in will host a Celebration of Life for Nora Harroun, who died following complications related to an open heart surgery.
“To honor her memory and the lasting legacy she left for me I am hosting a Celebration of Life for her at the drive-in on Sunday July 27th as a means for folks to join us and show appreciation and support for an incredible young woman taken far too soon from this world and those that loved her,” Nora’s husband, Ben Harroun, wrote in a post on the drive-in’s website.
Some of the food stands will be open and the money raised from the event will go to the family, medical bills, and charities that were important to Nora. Tab’s Chocolate will also be at the event.
The drive-in will be screening Pride and Prejudice, which they say was Nora’s favorite movie. Before the show, there will be a photo/video slide show montage for Nora, and a eulogy will be read over the radio. The show will be free to attend, but the drive-in will “graciously accept donations” from attendees, Harroun said.
“While Nora was a simple person who loved spending time with family and friends, and our fur babies at home, she also loved the drive-in. She loved interacting with people, seeing the kids laughing, the couples falling in love and families coming together to make memories. The fact that she got to do that alongside me, her husband, was a bonus that she really enjoyed,” Harroun wrote.
