Judge Lifts Gag Order in Bryan Kohberger Case, But So Far, Nobody’s Talking

Prosecutors have asked an Idaho judge to extend no contact orders for confessed killer Bryan Kohberger for 99 years.

In a motion filed last week, prosecutors noted that Kohberger was already barred from contacting the families of his victims through January 5, 2027.

Earlier this month, Kohberger, 30, pleaded guilty to the brutal murders of Xana Kernodle, Madison Mogen, Ethan Chapin, and Kaylee Goncalves. He is scheduled to be sentenced on Wednesday, and is expected to receive four consecutive life terms without the possibility of parole plus 10 years for a burglary charge.

The surprise plea deal took the death penalty off the table. Kohberger also waives his right to appeal under the deal.

Kohberger, then a graduate student in criminology at Washington State University, stabbed the four University of Idaho students to death in the early hours of November 13, 2022. After an extensive investigation, he was arrested six weeks later at his parents home in Pennsylvania.

Kohberger’s attorneys had argued that their client was just driving around alone on the night of the murders but abruptly asked prosecutors for a deal last month.
