Walk of Fame star honoring Mexican band Los Bukis to be unveiled Wednesday

HOLLYWOOD, LOS ANGELES (KABC) — A star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame is set to be unveiled Wednesday in honor of Los Bukis, the iconic Mexican music band whose tours have included sold-out concerts at SoFi Stadium and Chicago’s Soldier Field.

Actor Demian Bichir is expected to speak at the late morning ceremony on Hollywood Boulevard, and comedian Gabriel “Fluffy” Iglesias is schedule to serve as master of ceremonies.

Los Bukis will receive the 2,817th star on the iconic Walk of Fame, which was initially completed in 1961 with its original 1,558 stars.

Marco Antonio Solís and his cousin Joel Solís, drummer Jorge Dávila and bassist Carlos Enrique González formed Los Bukis in 1973,

The band’s debut studio album, “Falso Amor,” was released in 1975. The group went on to release an album annually from 1977 to 1983.

Los Bukis’ has received three Grammy nominations, the first of which came in 1984 for “Yo Te Necesito,” which was nominated for best Mexican-American performance.

The bands hits include “Tu Cárcel,” “Quiéreme,” “Yo Te Necesito,” “Presiento Que Voy a Llorar,” “A Donde Vayas,” “Ya Ahora Te Vas,” “Tus Mentiras,” “Morenita” and “Necesito Una Compañera.”
