Pop-up inspired by "The Bear" brings iconic Chicago sandwich to Los Angeles

LOS ANGELES — Chicagos juiciest icon just took a dip in Los Angeles and fans lined up fast to catch the beefy magic before it was gone.

Chicagos iconic sandwich made its way west as Mr. Beef teamed up with Uncle Paulies Deli and HexClad for a two-day pop-up event titled “HexClad Serves Up: Mr. Beef at Uncle Paulies Deli.”

Back for its second year, the event dished out an authentic taste of the Windy City, featuring Italian beef sandwiches served straight from the source, Chris Zucchero, owner of Chicagos legendary Mr. Beef.

The sandwich shop, famously known for inspiring “The Bears” Original Beef of Chicagoland, has become a bucket-list stop for fans of the show and sandwich lovers alike.

The pop-up was a delicious double feature, hosted by Chicago native and “The Bear’s” culinary producer Courtney Storer, who brought a cool, nostalgic treat with her Cocos to Go-Go Homemade Italian Ice, alongside Uncle Paulie himself, co-founder and owner Paulie James.

“The best part about being from Chicago is learning all that hospitality, bringing it here to L.A.,” Storer said.

Fans lined up early to beat the crowds and snag a sandwich before the expected sell-out. They also had the chance to grab exclusive merch and enjoy a few surprises.

Actor Edwin Lee Gibson, who plays Ebrahim in “The Bear,” showed up to join the fun, serving Italian ice to those in line and snapping selfies with fans.

Meanwhile, Paulie James was just happy to see the community come together.

“It’s just great, we just want to bring everybody together, you know,” he said.

While “The Beef” may be gone for now, Uncle Paulies Deli is open year-round, serving gourmet sandwiches, salads, and sides.
