James Craig Murder Trial: ‘Family Man’ Colorado Dentist Allegedly Poisons Wife in Hospital, Then Asks Doctors to Stop Treating Her

Testimony continued Thursday in the high-profile murder trial of former Colorado dentist, James Craig, accused of killing his wife with poisonous smoothies.

Craig is currently on trial facing numerous charges, including murder, solicitation to commit tampering with physical evidence (two counts), solicitation to commit perjury (two counts), and solicitation to commit murder.

As CrimeOnline previously reported, an affidavit indicated that in 2023, Craig ordered arsenic and cyanide multiple times before his wife, Angela Craig’s, death.

According to the affidavit, an office manager at Craig’s dental practice told police that Craig prepared protein shakes for Angela every morning before their workouts.

After drinking the shakes, Angela often felt faint and subsequently ended up in an emergency room at UCHealth.

Angela, a 43-year-old mother of six, passed away on March 18, 2023.

Data analyst Elizabeth Gore took the stand Thursday morning, and described how she met the defendant on the dating site, Seeking.com. She recalled how the site was “geared toward finding a sugar daddy,” according to Denver’s ABC 7.

Gore said eventually met up with Craig several times for lunch dates before they took a skiing trip together in Bozeman, Montana.

Gore recalled that during the trip, Craig took a call from his wife that lasted nearly two hours. She said Craig pulled the vehicle over, then took the call outside the vehicle, then returned to the car and told her he needed to return to Colorado.

The pair then returned to the Denver airport.

Gore admitted that she knew Craig was married but “didn’t want to know about it,” and later found out that Angela knew Craig was in Montana with another woman.

Gore also testified that there was a “sexual component” to their relationship and that she had received monetary gifts from Craig, that equaled around $8,000.

Gore’s testimony came after testimony from a Texas orthodontist who said earlier this week that she, too, had a romantic relationship with the defendant.

Angela’s siblings, Mark Pray and Toni Kofoed, also took the stand Thursday. They described her as a strong and independent woman who loved her children and enjoyed working out.

“She absolutely loved being a mother and that was her number one thing in life,” Pray said, according to NBC 9.“Angela was the one who would bring things back into the proper directions.”

While Craig allegedly told investigators that Angela had suicidal ideations, both Pray and Kofoed denied the allegations, claiming that she loved life and was “sharp but positive.”

“There’s only one person in this world who would say Angela was suicidal, and that’s the person who murdered her,” Pray said, before the judge removed the comment from the record.

Kofoed testified that Angela was upset about Craig’s affairs with other women, but ultimately decided to stay with him and work on the relationship.

Pray added that Craig once told him and his spouse that he prescribed and gave Angela two pills, claiming the pills were antibiotics.

However, within a few minutes, Angela “couldn’t even hold herself up.”

A few days later, she was admitted into UCHealth, when her last words were,”why do I hurt?” according to what Craig told Pray.

Also on Thursday, a cellphone and computer investigator, who specializes in device data, testified that Craig made searches from his dental office that included:

  • “How long does it take to die from barium poisoning”
  • “How long does it take to die from arsenic poisoning”
  • “undetectable poisons”
  • “tetrahydrozoline poisoning timeline”

Craig has pleaded not guilty.

The trial continues. Check back for updates.
