GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Dallvion Jarrell Parker, 31, has been convicted by a jury of double homicide and attempted murder and sentenced to life in prison.

Parker was arrested on February 10, 2023, for the murders of Brittany Avery-Hoisington and Trayvon Sheppard on February 2, 2023. Parker reportedly knew Avery-Hoisington and came to her home about 15 minutes before the incident, where he spoke with her and was seen by at least one of the other victims; the three other victims were staying overnight at her home. He then left, but a few minutes later, he allegedly burst through the door wearing a hoodie and a mask over his face and immediately shot Avery-Hoisington at close range, then shot Sheppard at least once. He fired in the direction of one of the other victims, then went into a rear bedroom and shot the fourth person multiple times. Parker allegedly followed Sheppard out onto the porch and shot him until he fell down. One of the victims fled from the house.

After a four-day trial, an Alachua County Jury reviewed evidence and heard testimony from witnesses presented by the State Attorney’s Office. The Alachua County Jury found Parker guilty of first-degree murder for the unlawful killing of Brittany Avery-Hosington, guilty of first-degree murder for the unlawful death of Trayvon Sheppard, guilty of the attempted murder of C. Owens, and guilty of the attempted second-degree murder of F. Legrand. The jury deliberated for just over 7 hours.

Judge James Colaw presided over the trial. The Honorable Judge Colaw sentenced Parker to life in the Florida Department of Corrections for the victims Avery-Hosington, Sheppard, and Owens. For count 4, second-degree attempted murder, Parker was sentenced to 20 years minimum mandatory, and he was sentenced to 15 years minimum mandatory for tampering with evidence.
