Shannon Beador was featured on Thursday night’s episode of Watch What Happens Live, where she reacted to claims of hypocrisy after a viewer pointed out that she and Heather Dubrow had filmed Kelly Dodd amid a meltdown during their cast trip to Ireland during the 11th season of The Real Housewives of Orange County.
While also denying her alleged meltdown, slamming Katie, 41, for the illegal recording, and revealing that she recently contacted Emily Simpson, 49, for legal advice, Shannon, 61, addressed Jennifer Pedranti‘s DMs to Gretchen Rossi, 46, and responded to the fan, who wanted to know how Katie was “pure evil” when she did the same.
“Well, in Ireland … That might be a topic later on this season. In Ireland, we were told, ‘If anything happens, pull out your iPhones so we can capture it all.’ So we were doing our job,” Shannon explained on the July 24 episode of WWHL.
As for why it mattered that Katie shared the recording with Alexis Bellino, 48, when she’d been seen mid-meltdown on RHOC before, Shannon defended her behavior, saying that the “only time” she got upset during season 18 was when she “rightfully had the reason to.”
“[And] I didn’t have a meltdown that day. So let’s just get the facts straight. But the bottom line is, it doesn’t matter what I did,” she noted, proceeding to reveal that what Katie did was illegal. “It is, in the state of California, against the law to tape record someone in any capacity without their consent.”
While it was suggested that Shannon had forgiven others for worse, she denied that Katie’s recording was a forgivable offense.
“The issue that I have is that there’s zero good intention when you secretly record someone. There’s no positive explanation for doing that,” she reasoned.
Shannon also looked back on her comparison between Katie and her ex-boyfriend, John Janssen, 62, saying, “I may have recanted that and said there’s a little bit more equal.”
During a game in which she was asked to share a question for each of her castmates, Shannon asked Katie, “What’s wrong with you,” and she noted that Tamra Judge, 57, “[doesn’t] surprise [her] anymore.”
“But why do you keep doing what you’re doing?” she continued.
Then, when she got to Emily, Shannon wondered, “She was supposed to call me. Why didn’t you call me back? For some legal advice.”
Later, on the WWHL: After Show, Shannon reacted to Jennifer sliding into Gretchen’s DMs for advice on how to deal with Tamra.
“I know that that has happened a few times with new castmates, it’s something that I wouldn’t do, but at some point, Jen came in as Tamra’s friend, and if you remember her first season, Tamra was coming after her all the time with all these allegations about her boyfriend. So I could see at a certain point, it’s like, ‘Who can I trust here? Who can maybe help me navigate this?’” she stated.
The Real Housewives of Orange County season 19 airs Thursdays at 9/8c on Bravo.
