Two injured, one sustains life-threatening injuries in Decatur crash

DECATUR, Ill. (WCIA) — Two people were hurt in a crash, with one suffering life-threatening injuries early Saturday morning in Decatur.

At approximately 12:08 a.m. on July 26, Decatur Police officers were detailed to the area of 821 N Sunnyside Road in reference to a crash involving one vehicle. The initial investigation shows that a white Buick Regal was traveling southbound in approximately the 1000 block of N Sunnyside Road and lost control at or near the railroad tracks.

The driver of the Buick was a 25-year-old male from Decatur while the passenger was a 19-year-old female from Decatur.

Both the driver and passenger were transported to a local hospital by ambulance after the crash. The driver was soon thereafter transported to a local trauma center with life-threatening injuries while the passenger was treated for minor injuries.

Additionally, members of the Fatal Accident Investigation Team responded to the scene and are actively investigating the crash. There is no further information available at this time.
