On July 13, Amaya Espinal and Bryan Arenales were crowned the winners of Love Island USA Season 7. For Amaya, the journey was especially emotional. She entered the villa early as a bombshell but initially struggled to form a lasting connection. That changed when Bryan — a Casa Amor bombshell — arrived and saw a kindred spirit in her.

Both wore their hearts on their sleeves, stayed true to themselves, and were open to wherever the journey might lead. Though they recoupled later in the season, their undeniable chemistry quickly made them fan favorites, so it came as no surprise when they took home the win.

As winners of the season, Amaya and Bryan also won $100,000 which they decided to split among themselves. Fans all wondered — would they spend that money on a lavish vacation? Would they use their winnings on a house or car?

During a joint interview with Today, in which they spoke out for the first time following their win, hosts Savannah Guthrie and Willie Geist, asked the couple what their plans were after becoming $100,000 richer.

“We both want to invest it, but we also want to put it to charity,” Bryan told the hosts.

Bryan continued, “I definitely want to donate some to mental health awareness — that’s something extremely important to me. I struggled with it as a kid growing up, so I just want to help kids face their emotions and know how to deal with them.”

Amaya held strong to her word about giving back to her community when she and Bryan were announced the winners. When speaking to host Ariana Madix, Amaya said, “I want to give back to the community, that’s one of my passions. It’s me leaving a positive impact on a group of people who are in need.”

As fans will remember, Amaya entered the villa as a bombshell on Day 5, bringing a lively energy and a genuine openness to finding love. She initially coupled up with Ace Green, who misinterpreted her warm nature, including calling him “babe,” and even refused to hug her. She later paired with Austin Shepard, but neither connection truly clicked, leaving Amaya still searching for someone who really saw her.

When the Casa Amor twist came for both the men and the women of the villa, Amaya struck up a connection with Zak Srakaew, but their connection faded as the Islanders and the new bombshells all came into the villa. Bryan, also a bombshell, coupled up with Andreina Santos, but their connection would also fizzle out.

During Day 26, the Islanders took part in the “Stand on Business” challenge in which they read anonymous letters to them written by their fellow Islanders. Amaya was hit with a few harsh words about being overly emotional by the men. “God forbid I’m a sensitive gangsta,” she told them. Bryan, was the only male to stick up for Amaya, sharing how calling people “babe” and showcasing her emotions was part of their Latino culture.

This was the turning point in their relationship, and they decided to explore it. Amaya chose to recouple with Bryan during Day 30. On Day 32, the couple was chosen to go to the Hideaway, where they explored an even deeper connection.

During the finale, Amaya and Bryan’s one-on-one date consisted of a scrapbook of their families and their time in the villa. She even reflected on the time he stood up for her during the “Stand On Business” challenge.

“You don’t understand how much it meant to me, that moment, of you standing up for me during the Standing on Business [challenge]. If my light is too bright for somebody, wear sunglasses or something. That is not a ‘me’ problem. But with you, you look right into the sun.”

In response, Bryan touchingly shared, “I just wanted to talk to you and basically let you know how much I care about you and how much you mean to me,” he began. “I definitely wanted to leave here letting you know that I want to make stuff exclusive with us and prioritize us. I wanna continue taking the right steps with you and to enter the outside world with you.”

It’s only been a couple of weeks since Love Island USA Season 7 came to an end, but both Amaya and Bryan have remained a couple when entering the real world.

In a joint interview with People, Amaya shared that she and Bryan are taking their newfound relationship “step-by-step.”

“We’re taking it step by step. I know he definitely needs to visit his family and so do I. But we’re talking about meeting each other’s families soon, so after that, we’ll plan his New York City trips,” she shared.

She continued, “I feel like we both feel confident in what we have and we have an open dialogue, healthy communication, so we’ll definitely just be communicating to each other throughout this whole journey.”

In fact, the two want to confront Casa Amor bombshell Zak at the Love Island reunion, especially after how things played out during the “Stand Your Business” challenge, and alleged rants about the couple on social media. “We definitely want to address the Zak K situation on both of our parts, just because, yeah, I’m not really agreeing with the s*** he’s saying,” Bryan told the outlet, adding, “I think he’s forgetting certain conversations we had prior. So [I’ve] got to remind him about those conversations.”

We love a man that stands up for his woman.

The Love Island USA Season 7 reunion will air on August 25 on Peacock.
