Police confirmed a brawl was sparked by spectators rushing onto the pitch mid-match and attacking opposing players at Gardiner Park in Banksia yesterday afternoon.

A 20-year-old was assaulted and the match was abandoned.

Locals claim this and a whole lot worse happens most weekends at the Banksia Tigers home ground.

“Police are a fairly regular occurrence, it’s the fourth time they’ve turned up this year alone,” resident Garnet Brown said.

“Parking issues, brawls, abuse to residents, so it’s far from ideal really.

“We’ve had families move out of the area, we’ve had couples move out of the area because they’re fearful. Every weekend everyone’s on edge, everyone’s nervous.”

9News reached out to the Banksia Tigers for comment.

Authorities are investigating a video from last month that shows a Banksia Tigers player kicking a person in the head after a match in Peakhurst.
