SAN DIEGO — For the cast and creators of “King of the Hill”, returning to San Diego Comic-Con after a 15-year hiatus feels like a family reunion – one with plenty of prop propane tanks and cosplay.
Executive producer and showrunner Saladin Patterson joked that Hank Hill might not feel at home among the capes and costumes.
“I think Hank would really question why grown people, in the middle of the day, are dressed up and not at work,” Patterson to On The Red Carpet.
The beloved animated series, which originally aired from 1997 to 2010, is being revived for a new chapter. Cast members said being back in front of fans – face to face – is a reminder of why the series still resonates.
Pamela Adlon, who voices Bobby Hill, said Comic-Con is exactly where her character would thrive.
“Bobby embraces this culture… this is very much a part of his DNA,” she said.
Toby Huss, who voices fan-favorite Kahn Souphanousinphone and Cotton Hill, credited longtime viewers for the revival.
“I think it’s very sweet – these are the people that kept the whole show going all this time,” Huss said. “One of the big reasons it’s coming back.”
“King of the Hill” Season 14 premieres August 4 on Hulu and Hulu on Disney+.
The Walt Disney Company is the parent company of Hulu and this ABC station.
