Illinois State Police announce traffic enforcement detail results

SANGAMON COUNTY, Ill. (WCIA) — Illinois State Police arrested 31 people, issued 385 citations, seized 44 pounds of cocaine and more during a six-day joint traffic enforcement detail in Sangamon County.

State Police said the enforcement detail focused on “high crash fatality areas, high crime areas, organized violent offenders, and structured criminal groups.”

The Springfield Police Department and Sangamon County Sheriff’s Office aided in the operation. The results include:

  • 385 citations issued
  • 31 subjects arrested
  • Six firearms seized
  • 52 criminal charges
  • 26 felony charges
  • One recovered stolen vehicle
  • 44 pounds of cocaine seized
  • 1,453 pounds of cannabis seized

“ISP is proud to work with our law enforcement partners to make our community a safer place,” Illinois State Police said.
