People are being urged to check their old lotto tickets to see if they’re among the 17 that could claim a piece of a $116 million pie of unclaimed prizes.

Around the country, there are 17 major lotto prizes that remain unclaimed, including five in Queensland, nine in New South Wales, two in the Australian Capital Territory, and one in Victoria, according to The Lott.

There are no unclaimed prizes in South Australia, Tasmania, or the Northern Territory, while Lotterywest, which operates lottos in Western Australia, is not part of The Lott.

The biggest unclaimed prize is a Powerball $100 million jackpot win from last month.

There are six other seven-figure unclaimed prizes, including two worth $4.8 million (from the ACT and NSW), three worth about $1 million (from Queensland, NSW, and Victoria), and one worth about $1.14 million (from NSW).

The other 10 unclaimed prizes range from $100,000 to over $770,000.

The 17 winning tickets were not registered either online or to Members Club player card, meaning lottery officials are unable to identify or contact the mystery winners.

Last financial year, unknown mystery winners took an average of 10 days to come forward and claim their prize – extending to five months for one Victorian winner, who ended up with $2.1 million.

The clock is ticking for two of the unclaimed prizes, with less than a month left on the claim periods, including a $671,513 ticket bought in August 18 in Queensland, and a $200,000 ticket bought in NSW in August 2019.
