Trump makes Keir Starmer and his 'perfect' wife Victoria squirm

During their meeting in Scotland on Monday, President Donald Trump caused some discomfort for British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and his ‘perfect’ wife Victoria by offering compliments to her.

As the president met the Starmers outside the clubhouse at his Trump Turnberry golf resort in Turnberry, Scotland, he remarked to reporters that his goal was to make the prime minister ‘happy’ during their encounter.

He then quickly turned his attention to Victoria.

‘By the way, your first lady, I always say first lady, she’s a respected person all over the United States,’ Trump said.

He then joked, ‘I don’t know what he’s doing,’ motioning to Starmer.

‘But she’s very respected, as respected as him,’ the president continued.

‘I don’t want to say more, I’ll get myself in trouble. But she’s very – she’s a great woman and is very highly respected,’ Trump went on.

He brought up Victoria a second time once the delegations were inside.

Trump commended Starmer for being ‘so strong and so respected.’

‘And I respect him much more today than I did before because I just met his wife and family,’ Trump said. ‘He’s got a perfect wife and that’s never easy to achieve, right?’

The prime minister joked, ‘I’ll take no credit for that.’

After their outdoor greeting, Trump and Starmer held court in front of reporters for more than an hour on Monday, discussing everything from Gaza to windmills to Jeffrey Epstein.

Trump also said he was considering shrinking the 50-day deadline he had imposed on Russian President Vladimir Putin to end the war in Ukraine.

‘I’m going to make a new deadline of about 10 or 12 days from today. There’s no reason in waiting,’ Trump said. ‘want to be generous, but we just don’t see any progress being made.’

Trump imposed the original 50-day deadline a month ago, but Putin has continued his drone and missile assault on Ukrainian territory as there continues to be no end in sight for the war, which started in February 2022.

Turning to Gaza, Trump said, ‘we want to get the children fed.’

Starmer described the lack of aid in Gaza to be ‘revolting.’

The president also took aim at one of his favorite targets – windmills.

He called wind power a ‘disaster,’ adding that it’s ‘the most expensive form of energy and it destroys the beauty of your plains and your fields and your waterways.’

The president suggested it was ‘inappropriate’ to talk about the Epstein case in front of the British prime minister but told the Daily Mail that no one had approached him about pardoning Epstein’s accomplice, Ghislaine Maxwell.

Over the weekend, libertarian-leaning Republican Rep. Thomas Massie – who’s been a thorn in the president’s side by not voting for his ‘big, beautiful bill’ – floated Trump pardoning Maxwell in exchange for more information about Epstein’s crimes.

‘I’m allowed to give her a pardon. Nobody’s approached me with it. Nobody’s asked me about it. It’s in the news about that, that aspect of it. But right now, it would be inappropriate to talk about it,’ Trump answered on Monday.

The president also denied ever going to Epstein’s island – where many of the underage victims recounted experiencing sexual abuse.

‘I never had the privilege of going to his island, and I did turn it down,’ Trump said. ‘But a lot of people in Palm Beach were invited to his island. In one of my very good moments, I turned it down. I didn’t want to go to his island.’

The president also explained why he banned Epstein from Mar-a-Lago in 2004.

‘He stole people that work for me. I said, Don’t ever do that again. He did it again, and I threw him out of the place persona non grata, I threw him out, and that was it. I’m glad I did, if you want to know the truth,’ Trump said.
