Amy Duggar King is estranged from the majority of her extended family. While Duggar family followers have long suspected that she was no longer in contact with most of her cousins, she recently confirmed that was indeed the case. Despite no longer spending time with most of her extended family, Amy insists she isn’t bitter about the situation. Instead, she says she’s happy about the relationships she has been able to nurture. She recently gushed about her deep bond with Jill Dillard.

Amy Duggar King might not have almost two dozen cousins to text at the moment, but she’s maintaining a good relationship with at least one of her family members. In the lead-up to the release of her book, Holy Disruptor: Shattering the Shiny Facade by Getting Louder with the Truth, Amy has been getting honest about her relationships with family members.

In a recent interview with E! News, Amy revealed that she had to set strict boundaries with her extended family. She said that led to a lot of sadness and a loss of connection. Still, she is not bitter about it. Amy insists she’s happy with where she is. She noted she does have a deep bond with Jill Dillard. Amy said  that she and Jil have grown closer over time and are constant supporters for each other. They are raising their children to be close, too. Amy is the mother of one boy. Jill has three sons with Derick Dillard.

When did Jil Dillard become estranged from her family?

Jill Dillard and her husband, Derick Dillard, disconnected from family life in 2017 when they opted to leave Counting On behind. Over the years, both Jill and Derick have been open about the situation, explaining that they felt hurt after stepping back from filming, as it cost them invitations to family events. Over time, the rift deepened, with a money dispute factoring heavily in their decision to maintain a distant relationship from the family.

While Jill and Derick now attend some family events, it appears that most of Jill’s sibling relationships remain strained. Jill was invited to Jana Duggar’s August 2024 wedding, but she was the only Duggar sister not included in the wedding party. The snub felt purposeful. Amy Duggar King did not attend the wedding at all. Jill also doesn’t seem to be included in trips to visit Jinger Vuolo in California. Jill has made it clear that she maintains relationships with some siblings, but not others, although she’s been careful to respect their privacy and not share their names.
