Argument over bed sheets leads to attempted murder charge

A 26-year-old woman in Florida has been arrested after she allegedly broke a bottle over another woman”s head and stabbed her because she was “extremely upset” over “what kind of bed sheets and blankets” the victim had set up for her in her room.

Anaya Durandisse Williams was taken into custody on Sunday and charged with one count of attempted second-degree murder and one count of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, authorities announced.

According to a probable cause affidavit obtained by Law&Crime, deputies with the Polk County Sheriff’s Office at about 5:15 p.m. on Sunday responded to a report of an ongoing battery taking place at a home in the 800 block of Morrison Avenue in Fort Meade which is about 60 miles southeast from Tampa.

Upon arriving at the address, first responders made contact with the victim, who told them that Williams, who lived at the victim’s home, “became extremely upset with [the victim] about what kind of bed sheets and blankets [the victim] set up for her in her room.”

Williams was allegedly quick to turn her anger into a physical confrontation.

“As [the victim] walked out of [Williams’] bedroom, [Williams] grabbed [the victim’s] hair and hit her in the front and back of her head with her hand,” the affidavit states. “[Williams] then grabbed an empty olive oil glass bottle from inside her bedroom and struck [the victim] in the head, which caused the bottle to shatter. [Williams] continually grabbed and pulled [the victim’s] hair, with some of the braids being pulled out completely. While holding and struggling with [the victim], [Williams] kicked and bit [the victim] in the leg. [The victim] bit one of [Williams’] fingers to get her to stop hitting her.”

The victim was able to break free of Williams and began calling 911. That is when Williams allegedly went into the kitchen and grabbed a large knife. As allegedly shown by surveillance footage from inside the home, the knife-wielding Williams “lunges” at the victim, stabbing her in the “back/side area,” per the affidavit.

Police found Williams in the bathroom with the knife and took her into custody. During an interview with detectives, Williams allegedly admitted that she hit the victim in the head with a bottle, then “grabbed her by the neck and hair, and bit her on the leg.”

“[Williams] said she then hit [the victim] with the knife as [the victim] was turning away and on the phone with the cops,” police wrote. “[Williams] said she was in the heat of the moment.”

Authorities said the victim had visible injuries, including a swollen left eye and “a small laceration on her back/side area.”

Additionally, the victim told deputies that “she was scared” when she saw Williams with the knife and that Williams’ actions “were against her will.”

Williams is currently scheduled to appear in court for a pretrial detention hearing on Aug. 4. Her arraignment is calendared for Sept. 2.
