As the search continues for the man accused of killing a couple hiking with their two young daughters in Arkansas park on July 26, police have released a telling detail about the suspect’s condition as well new images.
As part of their efforts to locate the killer, Arkansas State Police put out photo and sketch of a man investigators would like to question in connection to the killings of Clinton David Brink, 53, and Cristen Amanda Brink, 41. The couple’s remains were found on a walking trail in Devil’s Den State Park on Saturday afternoon, setting off a state-wide manhunt for the perpetrator.
Police stated in a July 28 press release that the suspect “likely sustained an injury while attacking the couple.”
Authorities previously shared that the suspect is believed to be a white male with a medium build, who was wearing a long-sleeved shirt, dark pants, a ballcap, sunglasses, and fingerless gloves at the time of crime. He also carried a black backpack.
The suspect was seen driving in a black, four-door sedan, possibly a Mazda, with a license plate that’s covered by electrical or duct tape, according to police. The car is believed to have been traveling State Highway 170 or State Highway 220.
What happened to Clinton and Cristen Brink?
The Brinks were hiking with their daughters, aged 7 and 9, on the afternoon of Saturday, July 26, when they were attacked and killed. The two girls were left unharmed and are in the custody of relatives, Arkansas State Police said.
Relatives of the victims asked for “privacy during this very difficult time” in a statement, and requested that anyone with information relevant to the case contact Arkansas State Police. “Clinton and Cristen died heroes, protecting their little girls and they deserve justice,” the July 28 statement continued. “:They will forever live on in all of our hearts.”
The family of four recently had moved from their home in South Dakota, to Prairie Grove, Arkansas, according to the Associated Press. They had just turned on water services in their new home on July 16, Prairie Grove mayor David Faulk said in a statement.
“To the surviving family members, our prayers go out to you,” Faulk added. “We pray your family is provided with quick justice and closure from this terrible tragedy.”
Clinton was due to start working as a milk delivery driver in Fayetteville, Arkansas, for Hiland Dairy on Monday, July 28, the company told the AP.
Devil’s Den State Park closed until further notice
The Devil’s Den State Park trails, normally open for hiking, backpacking, mountain biking, and horseback riding, were still “closed until further notice” on July 29 as authorities investigate the Brinks’ deaths.
