Dean Cain is reflecting on his brief romance with Pamela Anderson.

“That candle burned hot and short,” Cain, 58, told Variety in an interview published on Tuesday, July 29. “She wanted to be with the rock-star kind of guy, and that’s not me.”

Cain and Anderson, 58, began dating in 1993 after the actress catapulted to the spotlight for her role as C.J. Anderson on NBC’s Baywatch. Cain, meanwhile, was finding fame as Clark Kent/Superman on Lois & Clark. While the pair only dated for a short six months, Cain said that he only has “fond memories” of the time they spent together.

After their split, Cain moved on with Mindy McCready in 1997, but the pair called it quits after a short engagement. He later began dating Playboy Playmate Samantha Torres, but ended their relationship before welcoming their son, Christopher, in 2000.

“She figured we’re gonna get married because that’s what you do when you get pregnant out of wedlock. And I was like, ‘That’s not gonna work,’” Cain, who has never been married, told Variety. “My parents were angry.”

Cain claimed that Torres initially made visitations with his son difficult for him, so he spent $1.5 million to sue for joint custody, which he was eventually rewarded. He was later granted full legal and physical custody when Christopher turned 9-years-old and the contention between him and Torres settled. (Cain is now the godfather of her 14-year-old twins.)

Anderson, for her part, went on to marry five times. She tied the knot with Tommy Lee in 1995 and the pair welcomed sons Brandon Thomas and Dylan Jagger in 1996 and 1997, respectively. Following their 1998 divorce, Anderson wed Kid Rock in 2006, but they split one year later. She moved on with Rick Salomon, whom she called her husband twice — first 2007 to 2008, and again from 2014 to 2015.

She later rekindled her romance with former flame Jon Peters, though their 2020 wedding was not legally binding and they split less than two weeks later. She announced that same year that she had tied the knot with bodyguard Dan Hayhurst. Us Weekly confirmed in January 2022 that they were getting divorced.

Earlier this month, Anderson sparked romance speculation with her Naked Gun costar Liam Neeson when the pair were spotted holding hands at the film’s London premiere. At one point, Anderson was snapped planting a kiss on Neeson’s cheek. After bringing their respective sons to the New York City premiere days later, Anderson shared photos from the event via Instagram, writing, “Love is in the air.”
