SAN FRANCISCO — The Contra Costa County District Attorney in Northern California announced Tuesday that it has filed a 24-count felony complaint against a Delta pilot and a woman related to the sexual abuse of a minor between 2018 and 2023.

The 34-year-old pilot is currently being held on a $15 million bond and will be arraigned Wednesday on those charges, which include: engaging in a sexual act with a child 10 years old or younger, oral copulation with a child, forceable lewd acts upon a child, and aggravated sexual assault of a child.

The pilot was arrested on child sexual abuse charges after landing at San Francisco International Airport Saturday.

Officials say a 45-year-old woman has also been charged and booked into the Martinez Detention Facility.

KGO-TV, this station’s sister station in San Francisco, has not been able to confirm the relationship between the victim and the woman, but according to an article in the East Bay Times, authorities said “a girl told investigators she was abused by the pilot several times a week… From ages 6 to 10… She added that her mother would allegedly often be present during the abuse”

The East Bay Times claims authorities later confronted the girl’s mother about the alleged abuse, and she agreed to call the pilot to talk him into making a trip to the Bay Area to keep the allegations under wraps. That’s when the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Department decided to make their move, teaming up with Homeland Security to raid the Delta flight and arrest the pilot in the cockpit Saturday evening as the plane landed after a flight from Minneapolis.

“Our office stands firmly committed to protecting children and holding those who cause harm accountable. Every child deserves to feel safe, protected, and heard when an injustice like this occurs. By pursuing these cases vigorously, we not only seek justice for victims but also work to safeguard our entire community from those who would prey on children,” said Contra Costa County District Attorney Diana Becton.

The sheriff’s department says their investigation is continuing and they’re asking for the public’s help with any details.

Officials say the charges carry terms of 15 years to life in prison.
