Mario Munoz was arrested in October 2023.

He was charged with a felony count of arson, causing over $150 in damage, and a misdemeanor count of criminal damage to property less than $500.

Nearly two years later, Munoz pleaded guilty to one count of aggravated arson.

A judge sentenced him to six years at IDOC to be served at 85%. He will receive credit for the 645 days already served.

Munoz received an additional year on an unrelated count of resisting an officer.

A Ring camera allegedly captured Munoz cutting the heads off inflatable Halloween decorations outside a home on Maplewood Avenue, according to a police report.

At the time, police alerted North Side residents that someone has been igniting Halloween decorations on front porches along with street corner garbage cans.
