A 34-year-old man jumped to his death from the Whitney Museum in Manhattan on Wednesday afternoon, according to officials and sources.

An unidentified man was discovered on Gansevoort Street near the upscale Chelsea art museum just before 5:30 p.m., with injuries suggesting he had fallen from a high point, as reported by the NYPD.

EMS declared the man dead at the scene, cops said.

Sources indicate the man died by suicide by jumping from a high spot in the art museum, which features an abundance of elevated outdoor spaces for guests.

The man was a visitor to the Whitney, according to the museum.

“We are heartbroken that a visitor lost their life. Our thoughts are with their family and friends, as well as with the staff, visitors, and neighbors who were present at the time,” a spokesperson expressed in a statement.

“We are in close contact with the authorities and assisting in any way we can. The Whitney will open on a delayed schedule at 12 pm tomorrow, Thursday, July 31st.”

An investigation into the tragic incident is ongoing.
