A verdict will likely be reached today for the rapper and his co-defendant Leroy Whitaker. Both men are on trial for the murder of Charles McCormick.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — UPDATE: The jury for co-defendant Leroy Whitaker, a.k.a. ATK Scotty, has began deliberating.

Day seven in the murder trial of Jacksonville rapper Ksoo continues Thursday, as a verdict will likely be reached.

The rapper, whose real name is Hakeem Robinson, and Leroy Whitaker, also known as ATK Scotty, are on trial together for the January 2020 murder of Charles McCormick. Both men have separate juries.

On Wednesday, the state gave a joint closing argument for both defendants, and Whitaker’s attorney, Julie Schlax, delivered her closing argument.

Thursday, Whitaker’s jury will begin deliberating shortly after arriving at the Duval County courthouse at 9 a.m. and being given instructions by Judge Salvador.

Meanwhile, Robinson’s attorneys Christopher DeCoste and Tara Kawass will deliver their closing arguments at 9:30 a.m.

Both Robinson and Whitaker are charged with first-degree murder as a criminal gang member, but Whitaker faces additional charges of burglary with assault or battery and home invasion robbery.

Prosecutors said Robinson gunned down McCormick as he walked out of a temp agency on Merrill Road in Jan. 15, 2020, while Whitaker was in the car with him, helping hunt McCormick down. They also said Whitaker had his own gun loaded and was ready to fire if he needed to.

Whitaker’s burglary and robbery charges stem from a violent home invasion following the murder. Prosecutors have accused Whitaker, Robinson and confessed accomplice Dominique Barner of fleeing the scene in a stolen Nissan, leading a police officer on a chase; after the car crashed, prosecutors said Whitaker and Barner ran off into a woman’s home.
