Should Scheana Shay Be A Main Cast Member On The Valley? Fans Share Opinions

Bravo’s The Valley reintroduced viewers to Vanderpump Rules alums Kristen Doute, Brittany Cartwright, and Jax Taylor as they left Los Angeles for the San Fernando Valley. The series follows their journey of building new friendships while navigating careers, parenthood, and evolving relationships.

When Season 2 rolled around, fans quickly noticed the addition of even more Vanderpump Rules stars, including Scheana Shay and her husband, Brock Davies, Lala Kent, and Tom Schwartz. While their appearances were limited, it appears viewers may be seeing more of them in the future. However, not all fans see this as welcome news.

Will Scheana Shay Become A Main Cast Member On The Valley Season 3?

Could Scheana Discuss Brock Davies’ Infidelity In Season 3?

Season 2 of The Valley wrapped up on uncertain footing for much of the cast — except for exes Michelle Saniei and Jesse Lally, whose dynamic surprisingly remained stable amidst all the chaos in the finale. The end of the season revolved around a much-anticipated zen party intended to bring calm and resolution, but instead, it ended up shattering any hope of reconciliation between the group.

Jax Taylor and Brittany Cartwright’s turbulent relationship took center stage once again, as Brittany moved forward with divorce proceedings. Danny Booko was targeted again for his drinking behavior despite making amends with Jasmine Goode and Melissa Marie. Additionally, Kristen Doute and Janet Caperna got into a huge blowout and left with their friendship coming to a definite end after Kristen spread a rumor about Jason Caperna removing his wedding ring when he goes out.

With emotions running high and relationships fracturing, Season 2 left fans wondering how these cast members will move forward, and who will survive the fallout in the next chapter of The Valley.

But, would including someone like Scheana Shay in a main character role help round out this dysfunctional cast?

In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Bravo executive producer Alex Baskin hinted that viewers may see more of Scheana in Season 3. She has been friends with much of the cast since starring in VPR for 11 seasons, and was the one to actually introduce Janet to the friend group.

When asked if there is a conversation about including Scheana on the show in a much bigger capacity, he shared:

“Yeah, I mean, we’re making our plans for next season. I wouldn’t say we were trying to set the stage to do anything in particular, but again, Scheana is really friends with that entire group, and so you actually have to take pains, in some cases, to not include that group, or those Vanderpump folks, because they are connected to this group. But we weren’t trying to sort of set anything up.”

He continued, “You know, I said after season one that we weren’t adding any more primary cast members, and in part, we were really crowded, and we wanted to give everyone the opportunity to shine. And we did want to give Jasmine and Zack the chance to be more involved and take on more prominence. Now, we’re figuring out where we go from here. Obviously, there are already changes: Jax isn’t coming back, so season three will be different just by virtue of that. We’re sort of figuring out what else it’s going to look like.”

Besides Scheana, viewers also saw Lala and Tom making appearances. Lala was seen in a heated conversation with Jesse about his treatment of his estranged spouse, Michelle. Additionally, she also made appearances at group events and even introduced viewers to her second child, Sosa. Meanwhile, Jax became Tom’s new neighbor when he moved out of his Valley home.

Could Bringing In More VPR Stars Hurt Or Help The Valley?

A Reddit thread discussing The Hollywood Reporter’s interview with Alex sparked several comments speculating about the possibility of Scheana being featured more prominently in Season 3.

Unfortunately, some commenters felt that Scheana didn’t deserve a spot on The Valley after revelations surfaced about her withholding information regarding her husband Brock’s affair during Season 11 of Vanderpump Rules. Fans only recently became aware of his infidelity following the release of her memoir, My Good Side, which shed new light on their turbulent past.

“After her and Lala’s hypocrisy, absolutely not!!! And Brock doesn’t deserve any more screen time. That’s for sure. The platform this sh**** man has been given. I’m over the entertainment industry and the freaking world for forgiving and providing opportunity to undeserving, criminal losers… like our president 😭😭😭😭😭,” a comment read.

On the flip side, another Reddit thread discussing Scheana’s appearances revealed that many fans actually favored her over other Vanderpump Rules cast members, praising her for “bringing the tea.” This season, Scheana appeared to be in the know about nearly everyone’s business, including a revealing phone conversation between Michelle and Jesse, during which she exposed Jesse’s girlfriend as a cheater.

  • “I’m going to say something controversial. After the phone call with Jesse I want Scheana on the show. She has all the LA tea. She knows everyone’s business. She would be a great addition to the show. I previously didn’t want her but that call reminded me of who she is and what she contributes. Still a hard no on Lauren [Lala Kent] though,” a user wrote.
  • “Super unpopular opinion: I actually enjoy Sheana 🫢. If you take her for who she is and realize she is her biggest fan, she is very entertaining. I listen to her pod and find myself snickering at her self promotion but she has good tea and not afraid to spill it,” another comment read.
  • “I’m ok with Scheana on the show since she seems legit friends with everyone on it, and HAS been for quite some time (as seen from the Valley cast appearing sporadically through VPR). However yes I agree, I am a hard no still on Lauren as she brings only negativity to the screen,” a comment read.

Jax Taylor Is Officially Out For Season 3

Can The Valley Thrive Without Jax Taylor?

The Valley can absolutely thrive without Jax Taylor. After Jax entered rehab to focus on his mental health, he was noticeably absent for much of Season 2, and yet, the show continued to deliver plenty of drama. In fact, viewers were already petitioning for him to either leave the show or get fired given the horrible ways he treated Brittany.

In his interview with THR, Alex believed that Jax leaving the show was “the right move for him to make.”

“We’re focused on making the show we’re making with the group that is here, but we think that that is the right decision for him, and hopefully he uses this time to make healthy choices and put himself in a position to succeed in life,” he shared.

Alex also believed that some of the backlash Jax has been receiving about his portrayal this season helped him make the decision to leave the show. “I’m sure that played a role in it, because the audience was very clear, understandably, how they felt about the situation…” he added.

Before the Season 2 finale, Jax announced he was not going to be a part of the show’s third season to focus on his mental health and sobriety.

“After an incredibly challenging year and many honest conversations with my team and producers, I’ll be stepping away from the next season of The Valley. Taking this time is necessary for me to become the best version of myself – especially for our son, Cruz,” his statement read.

Fans can watch Seasons 1 and 2 of The Valley on Peacock.
