LIMESTONE COUNTY, Ala. (WIAT) — Investigators with the Limestone County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division have arrested a Hoover man following a human trafficking investigation.
According to the Limestone County Sheriff’s Office, Hayel Fadhlesaleh Hasson, 52, initiated contact on social media with what he believed to be a juvenile male last month. The account was being operated by an investigator with the Limestone County Sheriff’s Office. The Sheriff’s Office says that, during these conversations, Hasson offered money in exchange for sexual contact with the juvenile, and he agreed to travel from Hoover to Limestone County to meet him.
On Saturday, Hasson was taken into custody after arriving in Athens. He was charged with electronic solicitation of a child, traveling to meet a child for an unlawful sex act and human trafficking in the first degree.
“These investigations take time, patience, and dedication. I’m proud of our investigators’ work in making this arrest,” Limestone County Sheriff Joshua McLaughlin said in a statement. “Their commitment to protecting children and holding predators accountable is unwavering. We will continue to do everything in our power to stop those who seek to exploit the most vulnerable among us.”
Hasson is being held in the Limestone County Detention Center pending an Aniah’s Law hearing.
