Storm Team 3: The wet and cool trend continues

SAVANNAH, Ga. () – More rounds of rain are expected throughout your Sunday, adding to the already saturated ground and increasing the risk for flooding. While today’s rainfall totals aren’t expected to match yesterday’s, most areas will still pick up an additional 1–2 inches. With the ground unable to absorb much more, flooding could develop quickly. We remain under a level 2 slight risk for excessive rainfall today.

The stalled front responsible for the moisture will shift southward tomorrow and remain there through the week. This pattern keeps scattered storms in the forecast along with cooler temperatures. Highs will stay in the low 80s through midweek before climbing into the mid to upper 80s by the weekend. Rain chances begin to decrease toward the weekend, allowing for a warming trend.

In the Tropics:

The tropics are starting to show more activity. The low-pressure system currently bringing us rain has now been designated Invest 95L, with a medium chance of development. It’s expected to move eastward and away from our region. If it does develop, it is likely to remain out at sea and become a “fish storm.”

We’re also keeping an eye on another wave off the west coast of Africa. Development chances are currently low, but we’ll have a better sense of its potential over the next few days.
