HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. — A Tampa high school principal is on administrative leave after being arrested early Saturday by the Temple Terrace Police Department.

Scott Hazlett, 40, was arrested at 1:40 a.m. Saturday on charges of driving under the influence, possession of cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to online Hillsborough County Jail records.

Hazlett serves as the principal of Leto High School and has worked for Hillsborough County Public Schools since 2007.

The school district shared the following statement regarding Hazlett’s arrest:

“He has served in the district since 2007 and is currently on administrative leave following the recent charges. These allegations are deeply concerning and we understand the impact this may have on our students and staff. We remain committed to providing the students and staff with the appropriate support during this time.”

Hazlett has been released on bond.
