Staff report

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Tayana Nalany Lebron-Alvira, 18, was arrested early this morning for disorderly conduct and battery on an officer after a fight in a downtown bar.

At about 1:03 a.m. on August 3, a Gainesville Police Department officer was waved down by a security guard for an unnamed downtown bar near the intersection of University Avenue and Main Street; the security guard told the officer he was removing Lebron-Alvira for fighting several bar occupants.

The officer reported that while he was trying to understand what had happened, a woman walked by, and Lebron-Alvira broke free from the security guard’s grip, slapped the woman in the face, and kicked her in the legs.

A large crowd began to gather, and the officer detained Lebron-Alvira in handcuffs in an attempt to prevent her from attacking others, but Lebron-Alvira reportedly slipped one of her hands out of the cuffs and allegedly started hitting other people.

The officer reported that Lebron-Alvira repeatedly pulled away from him, so he placed her on the ground and put the handcuffs back on. However, when he tried to stand her back up, she allegedly spun around quickly, kicked the officer in the chest, and tried several times to slap him. Additional officers were needed to place a rip hobble around her legs.

Lebron-Alvira has been charged with battery on a law enforcement officer, disorderly conduct, and resisting an officer without violence. She has no adult criminal history, and Judge Tatum Davis set bail at $17,000.

Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
