DENVER (KDVR) The bodies of a missing paddleboarder and dog were recovered from a Colorado state park late Friday following an 11-hour search.
Colorado Parks and Wildlife said it recovered the bodies of the paddleboarder, identified as an adult man, and the dog at Eleven Mile State Park in Lake George.
Three people and a dog were blown into the water Friday afternoon when a large windstorm rolled through the park while they were paddleboarding.
CPW said one of the paddleboarders was wearing a life jacket and was able to swim to shore, while another was rescued by CPW rangers. The individual who was rescued was tethered to their paddleboard and was wearing a lifejacket, the agency said.
The paddleboarder who died was not wearing a life jacket and was recovered just before midnight by CPW’s Marine Evidence Recovery Team, the agency said.
The search was assisted by Harstel Fire and the Park County Sheriff’s Office, according to CPW. The identify of the victim will be released by the Park County Coroner.
