City of Augusta to recognize August as Agriculture Month

AUGUSTA, Ga. () – Mayor Garnett Johnson and the City of Augusta-Richmond County will officially proclaim August as Agriculture Month in Augusta, according to an announcement from the city on Monday.

In a press release, the city announced the official declaration ceremony will be held on Aug. 19, at 2 p.m. in the Augusta Municipal Building at 535 Telfair Street in Augusta.

“The proclamation honors the city’s ongoing commitment to local agriculture, food equity, and community resilience,” the city said in a statement.

As part of the presentation for Augusta Agriculture Month, the mayor will also recognize Loretta and Samuel Adderson, the founders of Adderson’s Historic Black Farm in Keysville, Ga.

The community-wide celebration is also being coordinated by Growing Augusta: Arts, Agriculture & Agency with support from Augusta.Farm
