Man arrested in Aiken County on charges of assault, kidnapping and criminal sexual conduct with minor

AIKEN, S.C. () – The Aiken Department of Public Safety has arrested a man on several criminal charges, the department said on Tuesday.

Tyrone James, 50, was arrested Aug. 5 and charged with Assault and Battery in the First Degree, Kidnapping and Criminal Sexual Conduct w/ a Minor in the First Degree.

According to arrest warrants, the Criminal Sexual Conduct charge stems from an incident that took place in 2017. James is accused of sexual battery involving a 7-year-old victim.

Arrest warrants allege the Assault and Battery and Kidnapping charges are from an incident that occurred on Jan. 4, 2025. James is accused of striking a victim in female victim in an argument and making threats with a knife.

According to the Aiken Department of Public Safety, it is possible that there are additional victims who have not yet come forward.
