Dave Edmunds’ wife has issued a health update after the musician was hospitalised. Cici Edmunds first shared that the rocker had suffered a cardiac arrest in late July. Dave’s wife of 40 years has since announced the 81-year-old is expected to make a full recovery. Cici previously shared in a Facebook post that he was revived by a nurse who performed emergency CPR. She reposted an announcement from Carlene Carter, the daughter of June Carter Cash and Carl Smith, on Facebook. “Bless you sweet beautiful Carlene for sharing the positive news regarding my amazing husbands miraculous recovery. Sending you much love and light your way always. Cici Edmunds,” she wrote on the repost, shared on Tuesday, Aug. 5.

“Dave is expected to make a full recovery and be out of the hospital soon!” Carter’s original Facebook post read, layered over a throwback photo of herself performing with Edmunds, 81, “Some really great news we all have been waiting for…” Carter, 69, wrote. Carter and Dave had released a duet, Ride Easy Baby, in 1980.

The rock star had previously suffered a major cardiac arrest in late July, Cic announced in a Facebook post.

At the time, Cici said that Dave “died in my arms” during the incident until a nurse revived him with “heavy CPR.” She added, “I’m still in shock and I believe I have PTSD from the horrific experience.”

Dave was rushed to an intensive care unit, where he was intubated, Cici wrote. She explained that he “clearly has brain damage and severe memory loss,” among other ailments.

His wife added, “Dave will have a very long journey ahead of him if he survives. We both have. But knowing that there are kind hearted people such as you all makes this tremendously difficult journey a little easier. Bless you all. Sending you all much love and light and always.”

Dave was born April 15, 1944 in Cardiff, Wales and his musical breakthrough came with the blues rock band Love Sculpture in the 1960s.

Dave went on to have a Christmas number 1 UK single with his cover of Smiley Lewis’ I Hear You Knocking, which sold three million copies and even reached No. 4 in the US.

He married Swedish wife Cecilia (Cici) back in 1983, and they live in Monmouth, Wales.
