Begonia Road shooting in Jacksonville leaves man dead, woman injured

JSO investigators said the woman called 911 around 2:21 a.m., saying she was shot and had shot someone else.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A man is dead and a woman recovering from multiple gunshot wounds after Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office investigators said they shot at each other early Wednesday morning in a home on Jacksonville’s Northwest side.

Police said they responded to the home in the 2800 block of Begonia Road after getting a 911 call around 2:21 a.m. Wednesday from a woman who said she was shot and had shot someone else.

Officers found the woman suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, and she was taken to a nearby hospital with non life-threatening injuries. 

The man was found with a single gunshot wound to the torso and pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Police are working to learn the circumstances leading to the shooting, and the relationship between the two.
