Tennessee quadruple murder suspect taken into custody: Police

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WREG) — Austin Drummond, who was wanted in a quadruple murder in West Tennessee, was taken into custody Tuesday morning, according to law enforcement.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation released the photo below of Drummond moments after he was taken into custody.

This comes after a shelter-in-place alert was issued for those in Jackson, Tennessee, on Tuesday morning after the Jackson Police Department said on social media that Drummond had been spotted.

“Due to the sighting of suspect Austin Drummond in the area of Saddlebrook Drive and Bridlepath Drive, please shelter in place immediately.”

Drummond has been on the run since last Tuesday, when the bodies of four family members were found in Lake County. His car was found in Jackson on Friday.

During the shelter-in-place, police advised residents to keep windows and doors locked, remain indoors, and avoid unnecessary travel.

On Monday, Union University was placed on lockdown, and officers were seen nearby as the search continued for Drummond. Several officers were seen blocking some streets.

Police also said Drummond was seen Sunday night on a citizen’s camera system.

They released two surveillance videos showing Drummond wearing camouflage clothing and a backpack, and carrying a rifle. In one video, he attempts to open a door.
