CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) — The former manager of a Champaign bar who was killed in a 2024 shooting is receiving an honorary street designation.

In Tuesday night’s meeting, the Champaign City Council voted to approve designating a stretch of N Chestnut St. as “Honorary Brandon Hardway Drive.” 45-year-old Brandon Hardway, who managed Pour Bros. in downtown Champaign, died following a shooting that happened outside the bar in Feb. 2024.

Brandon’s wife, Erin Hardway, was at Tuesday’s night meeting and spoke on the street designation.

“This street, located near a place he loved and where he made so many memories, would be a beautiful way to keep his spirit alive and to reflect the kindness, inclusivity, and joy he brought to so many lives,” Erin said.

The City of Champaign is allowed to approve four honorary street designations per year, and this was the third application approved in 2025.
