The Buccaneers Season 2 ends, as its first season did, with some wild twists and a cliffhanger teasing the arrival of a whole new character. After eight episodes of Nan (Kristine Frøseth) struggling in her marriage to Theo (Guy Remmers), Lizzie (Aubri Ibrag) falling hard for Theo, and Theo loving Lizzie in return, we finally have a resolution to this wild love web. Well, sort of.

**Spoilers for The Buccaneers Season 2 Episode 8 “She Knows,” now streaming on Apple TV+**

The Buccaneers Season 2 ends with Theo dramatically renouncing his Dukedom so he can eventually divorce Nan and be with Lizzie. This poses two new problems. One, Theo blew up Nan’s spot at their masquerade ball to make his little announcement. He assumed Nan was plotting to expose his affair with Lizzie, but in fact, she planned to reveal she was pregnant with Theo’s baby.

The other issue is that the Dowager Duchess (Amelia Bullmore) is determined to keep Tintagel. So much so, she reaches out to Kit, Theo’s secret half-brother, to become the new Duke.

“We know at the end of Episode 8 that Theo’s late father obviously was not faithful to the Dowager and did have a child out of wedlock,” The Buccaneers executive producer Beth Willis told DECIDER. “The Dowager’s obviously had some kind of relationship or contact with him over the years and has told Reed that she thinks he’s trouble.”

So The Buccaneers Season 2 ends with a dashing rogue riding towards Tintagel Castle just as Nan spitefully reveals to Lizzie that she is pregnant.

What’s next for The Buccaneers? What else do we know about the mysterious Kit? Here’s everything we know so far about Kit and the future of Apple TV+’s The Buccaneers

The Buccaneers Season 2 Ending Explained: Who is Kit, the New Duke of Tintagel?

While The Buccaneers hasn’t cast Kit yet, the executive producers already have a plan for this “difficult” new Duke of Tintagel.

“He’s trouble, is the tease, I suppose,” The Buccaneers executive producer Beth Willis said. “[The Dowager] obviously hasn’t allowed him to be anywhere near Tintagel until this moment. But it’s just testament to the Dowager’s commitment to the institution that even if she has to bring the worst possible version of a Duke into town, she absolutely will do if it means she gets to save her beloved Tintagel.”

“So just trouble ahead and complicated, messy relationships and a past that needs to be unpacked and is going to be full of secrets and lies,” Willis said. “Yeah, trouble ahead.

“And very, very sexy,” fellow executive producer Joe Innes added.

“He’s sexy!” The Buccaneers creator and showrunner Katherine Jakeways affirmed.

Is Apple TV+ Making The Buccaneers Season 3?

We don’t know yet if Apple TV+ has renewed The Buccaneers for a third season. It’s obvious that the producers have a plan for a third season, based on what they could tease about Kit. However, Apple TV+ hasn’t confirmed a pick up for the pulpy period drama yet.
