COLUMBIA, S.C. (WSPA) – A young boy who was honored and made a secret service agent by President Trump made a stop at the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) headquarters and was honored by state leaders.

Devarjaye “DJ” Daniel was sworn in by SLED Chief Mark Keel and Lt. Governor Pamela Evette as an honorary SLED agent.

“What an amazing man who has overcome so many challenges and he is happy, and he is excited, and he lives every day to the fullest, so he should be an inspiration to everybody,” said Evette.

He and his dad, Theodis Daniel received a tour of SLED’s facility. They met K-9s, met many law enforcement officers and even got to go inside of the agency’s helicopters

DJ said law enforcement gives him the strength to walk today.

“Every time they put their uniform on — it gives me more life,” DJ said.

“Your love and appreciation for this profession and for those of us that do it and have been doing it for a long time,” Keel said. “Your love and appreciation for it makes us very proud because, we don’t see that from everybody, and we’ve seen that from you.”

Theodis said DJ has been sworn into more than 3,000 agencies across the country.
