Quornelius Radford’s address was listed on a DUI citation in May as Jacksonville, Florida.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Army sergeant accused of opening fire on fellow soldiers at Fort Stewart, shooting five, is from Jacksonville, police records show.

Army officials confirmed Quornelius Radford, 28, was the suspect in the mass shooting. He is a logistics sergeant who has not seen combat, according to Brig. Gen. John Lubas, the commander of Fort Stewart.

Officials had previously confirmed Radford had “ties to Florida.”

Lubus said Radford had received a DUI locally in May. A citation for DUI and failure to obey traffic-control devices from the Georgia Department of Public Safety shows that his address at the time was on Village Pond Circle in Jacksonville.

Lubus said Radford’s superiors in the Army were not aware of the DUI.

Radford is accused of bringing his own weapon on base to carry out the shooting. Lubus said the Army is investigating how this was possible. He is currently in Army Investigations Division custody and being interviewed.

The five soldiers who were shot are now stable and expected to be OK, with three requiring surgery, according to Lubus.
