Khloé Kardashian and Tristan Thompson have made headlines since their relationship began. The couple has two kids, True, 6, and Tatum, 2. The couple had their ups and downs through the years following several cheating scandals involving Thompson and other women. However, they officially ended their romantic relationship in December 2021. At the time, it was revealed that Thompson fathered another child while Kardashian was expecting Tatum via surrogate.

In July 2023, Kardashian discussed her co-parenting relationship with Thompson on her podcast, Khloé in Wonder Land.

“For Tristan and myself, there’s really no drama when it comes to co-parenting,” she explained. “There’s drama in other areas of our relationship, friendship, whatever it’s called. Him and I are seamless co-parents, I will say that. And I’m really grateful for that. Tristan trusts me as a mom, and so I don’t get a lot of pushback, or he doesn’t doubt a lot of things that I say.”

When it comes to their kids, Kardashian noted that she doesn’t involve her children in adult conversations about her co-parenting relationship. “If me and Tristan are fighting, if we’re not getting along, any of that, my kids don’t know about it. They don’t need to know about it.”

Kardashian clarified that she ensures the comfort and safety of her kids’ mental and emotional well-being before all else. That doesn’t mean she and Thompson always get along, however.

“I make this co-parenting relationship really easy. If I wanted to torture Tristan, is what I’m saying, I could, but what does that do for my kids?” she continued. “I torture him privately.”

Khloé Kardashian doesn’t explain her co-parenting dynamic to her children, as she knows they understand that she and Tristan Thompson love them both very much. That said, she recalled on her podcast how her daughter, True, once referred to Thompson as her “husband.”

“True would say something like, ‘Your husband,’ or whatever. And I was like, ‘Who’s my husband?’ And she was like, ‘My daddy!’ And I was like, ‘Oh, OK,” Kardashian recalled. “I just didn’t know what her thought process was because from where she would have the memory of it, she’s never seen us kiss before, anything like that. And I didn’t want to say, ‘No, he’s not. I didn’t know what to do.”

Kardashian said she asked her therapist for guidance on the situation, and her therapist wasn’t worried. However, she did worry that her daughter thought marriages looked like what her relationship with Thompson had become. “But, again, she’s so young … it just wasn’t a big topic,” she clarified.

Khloé Kardashian and Tristan Thompson only spend time together when the kids are involved.

“I will definitely have Tristan around, but for kid-related things,” she said on the podcast. “He’s not just around to hang out with me.”

The exes still spend ample time apart so they each get quality time with the kids. Kardashian noted that Thompson lives quite close to her, and the kids sometimes ask to head over to their father’s house. She’s happy to bring them to his place, but she doesn’t linger.
