An eighth person has now been charged in connection with a disgusting child sex abuse case in rural Alabama.
A grand jury this week indicted Olivia Shailee Elam, 26, on 34 counts of rape, sodomy, human trafficking, kidnapping, aggravated child abuse, and sexual torture of a child under 12, WBRC reported.
The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office began announcing arrests last month in the horrific child sexual abuse and torture case, saying the crimes took place in an underground bunker in Brent, as CrimeOnline reported.
The investigation began in early February, with detectives initially arresting William McElroy. A second suspect, Dalton Terrell, 21, was charged in connection with the case in late April — after already being arrested for allegedly paying adults for sexual access to their children, although it’s unclear if that case is related to the underground bunker.
Days after Terrell’s arrest, Andres Trejo-Velazquez was also charged. Then came the arrest of 23-year-old Timothy St. John, followed by three more arrests — Sara Louise Terrell, Rickey Terrell, and Rebecca Cecile Brewer.
Investigators say they have identified 10 victims of the abuse racket, all between the ages of 3 and 15. Bibb County Sheriff Jody Wade said that the operators of the ring could make up to $1,000 per night.
The US Department of Homeland Security claimed that Trejo-Velazquez was a gang member but did not provide any information confirming that detail and would not say if any money from the child sex ring went to a gang.
