LOS ANGELES — Fans are doing the Time Warp once again as “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” celebrates its 50th anniversary with special events, reissues and theatrical screenings this fall.

“The Rocky Horror Picture Show” Spectacular Tour kicks off September 23 and runs through November 3, with appearances, meet-and-greets and more from original cast members Barry Bostwick, Patricia Quinn and Nell Campbell. The tour will visit 55 cities across the U.S. and Canada. Details and tickets here.

On October 7, a newly restored 4K Blu-ray will be released in a collectible limited-edition SteelBook, featuring Dolby Vision and Atmos audio. A digital version will also be available through Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, and Fandango at Home.

Then, on October 10, a 50th anniversary deluxe edition of the soundtrack will drop on 180g red-in-gold vinyl. The release comes housed in a gold-foil jacket with a newly designed inner sleeve that includes never-before-seen photos and production diary excerpts from producer Richard Hartley.

In addition to these highlights, fans in Los Angeles will have even more to look forward to:

  • Sept. 26: A special screening of the newly restored 4K version will take place at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures’ David Geffen Theater, followed by a talent Q&A.

  • Sept. 27: The official fan convention takes over West Hollywood’s Roxy Theatre with panel discussions, artist appearances and more.

  • Oct. 4: Cinespia will host an outdoor screening at Hollywood Forever Cemetery with a shadow cast, DJ sets, giveaways and a themed photo booth.

  • Oct. 15: The GRAMMY Museum will screen the film and host a panel celebrating the soundtrack, featuring Fat Mike and other guests.

Throughout October, the restored version of the film will return to theaters nationwide. Commemorative merchandise including new designs from Funko, Loungefly, RockLove Jewelry and others will also be available this fall.

First released in 1975 and based on the stage musical by Richard O’Brien, “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” broke new ground with its boundary-pushing themes, stylized visuals and iconic soundtrack. It remains the longest-running theatrical release in film history and is still going strong with weekly screenings held around the world.

The Walt Disney Company is the parent company of 20th Century Studios and this ABC station.
