Two men in NSW have been charged with allegedly buying child abuse material online using cryptocurrency.
The pair were arrested as part of NSW Police’s Strike Force Angle which has been investigating payments of cryptocurrency to access or distribute the vile material online.
A 45-year-old man was arrested last Thursday when detectives raided a property in Woy Woy on the Central Coast.
Officers seized electronic devices, including a mobile phone, a tablet, and a portable USB hard drive. They were later found to contain hundreds of child abuse material images and videos.
Bestiality images and a small quantity of cannabis were also confiscated.
The man was charged with child abuse and drug charges before appearing in court. He was granted bail and is scheduled to front court again next month.
On Wednesday, a 21-year-old man was arrested by Strike Force Angle investigators at Tamworth in north-east NSW.
It followed police raids on two properties near in Bogabri and Calala in May, when a PC and mobile phone were seized.
A forensic examination found the man allegedly had been accessing child abuse material.
Police further alleged that international law enforcement agencies provided evidence of the man making three cryptocurrency transactions on a child abuse material website.
He was charged with accessing child abuse material and granted bail. He is due to front court again next month.
