ST. SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. () — A St. Simons Island man has been charged with eight counts of sexual exploitation of children, officials announced Thursday.

After an investigation involving Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC), the Glynn County Police Department’s (GCPD) Criminal Investigations Division obtained a search warrant for Lucas Pigge’s St. Simon’s residence.

During the search, officials found and seized “multiple electronic devices suspected of being used in the possession and distribution of child sexual exploitation material,” a spokesperson said. Drugs and drug paraphernalia was also reportedly found.

Pigge was arrested and booked on drug charges Aug. 5. He bonded out of the Glynn County Detention Center shortly after, a GCPD spokesperson said.

Arrest warrants were issued Thursday after forensic examination of the previously seized devices confirmed “the presence and dissemination of illicit material involving children,” the spokesperson said.

The 35-year-old reportedly turned himself.

Pigge was formally charged with eight counts of sexual exploitation of children, half of which are for possession and the other half is for distribution, according to officials.

He is also charged with possession of marijuana less than one ounce, possession of schedule II controlled substance, possession of schedule I controlled substance and possession of drug-related objects.

This investigation is ongoing and any person with information on this case is encouraged to contact the Glynn County Police Department Non-Emergency at (912) 554-3645 or anonymously via Silent Witness at (912) 264-1333.
