BURKE COUNTY, Ga. () – On August 7th, the Burke County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division arrested Ahmed Sattar Ismael, a police officer with the Midville Police Department, in connection with a domestic dispute reported earlier that day.
The victim met with police to discuss the incident that happened at her home early Thursday.
She said that she returned home around 10:15 a.m. to pick up her 12-year-old son when she was confronted by her husband, Ismael, who demanded the couple’s marriage license. The confrontation allegedly stemmed from victim’s recent request for a divorce.
According to the victim, Ismael’s behavior escalated when she could fine the license.
An audio recording of the confrontation reportedly captured Ismael yelling profanities, making multiple threats to her life in the presence of their child, and brandishing what is believed to have been his service firearm while continuing to argue.
Investigators with the Burke County Sheriff’s Office along with the Midville Police Chief C.J. Green made contact with Ismael at the Midville Police Department headquarters.
He was transported to the Burke County CID for an interview and subsequently arrested.
Ismael is currently being held at the Burke County Detention Center.
Ismael has been charged with the following offenses:
- Terroristic Threats and Acts
- Pointing or Aiming a Gun at Another
- Cruelty to Children – 3rd Degree
