An “active shooter” has been reported near Atlanta’s Emory University at an Emory Point CVS.
Sources have confirmed to WANF that the shooter and a police officer are dead.
CNN has reported that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention was the target of the shooting. Family members of the shooter, who has not been identified, have reportedly told investigators that the gunman was sick or believed he was sick and that the COVID 19 vaccine caused his supposed illness.
A massive police presence responded to the area near the CDC, Emory University Hospital, and Emory Point, a mixed used development adjacent to the Emory campus.
On Friday afternoon, according to WAGA, news crews reported hearing gunshots near the CDC’s main campus, while Emory officials posted “RUN, HIDE, FIGHT” on X.
Emory Point, situated off Clifton Road, sits across from the CDC’s main campus, and near the university.
Dozens of “fully-loaded police vehicles” were at the scene, after numerous police vehicles were reportedly shot at.
SKYFOX 5 reported seeing what appeared to be a body covered, in front of the store, at around 5:45 p.m.
Both the school and Emory University Hospital are currently on lockdown, but shelter in place orders have been lifted.
