BURTON, S.C. () — The Burton Fire District (BFD) rescued a worker trapped in a lift suspended in the air Saturday morning.

At approximately 11:30 a.m., Burton firefighters responded to reports of a worker who was trapped in a boom lift on Roseida Road.

The worker was lifted 40 feet in the air while standing on a boom’s lift extended bucket, leaning against a tree. The lift was leaning on two wheels when firefighters arrived.

Firefighters stabilized the lift and, using their ladder truck, they rescued the worker with no injuries reported. He had been trapped for approximately 30 minutes.

“It looks like the worker was trimming trees and the lift came off balance and tipped,” stated Burton Engineer Eric Chapman who was on scene. “We are just thankful when the bucket
started to fall it landed against a tree which caught it before it came crashing down and injured
the worker or worse.”
