A man from Hawaii is in critical condition following a shocking incident where an attacker allegedly threw acid in his face, prompting a search for the suspect who is still on the loose.

The 30-year-old man was crossing a street in Honolulu’s Chinatown on Friday night when a stranger wearing a do-rag reportedly tossed the corrosive substance at him, as reported by the Honolulu Police Department.

Following the brutal assault, he was taken to a local hospital with critical injuries, suffering severe burns on his face and body, according to police statements.

“The preliminary investigation indicates that the victim did not know the suspect,” a police spokesperson told Fox News Digital, adding that authorities have been unable to interview the victim due to the severity of his injuries.

“Right now, detectives are canvassing the scene to recover any surveillance video and locate any additional witnesses.”

Fire officials confirmed the toxic substance was sulfuric acid — a highly corrosive chemical that can cause life-threatening burns.

The maniacal, six-foot-tall suspect was last spotted in a fitted blue shirt with a camera dangling from his neck and a red bottle in hand, police said.

A motive remains unclear as the investigation continues.
