SULLIVAN COUNTY, Tenn. (WJHL) — The Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) said in a report that one man was arrested in Bristol on Sunday after spike strips were deployed during a pursuit that began in North Carolina.
On Sunday at 9:40 a.m., the THP was notified about a stolen vehicle being pursued from North Carolina on Highway 421 into Tennessee, the report said.
“The North Carolina agency terminated the pursuit at the state line, where Johnson County Sheriff’s Office deputies located the vehicle and initiated pursuit again,” the report states.
Deputies then pursued the vehicle into Sullivan County, the report said.
THP troopers successfully deployed spike strips at the Highway 421 bridge, deflating the vehicle’s right rear tire, the report said. The driver of the HR-V pulled over on Pennsylvania Avenue near State Street and was taken into custody.
The driver was identified as Joshua T. Gragg, 39, of North Carolina, according to the THP.
The report said Gragg was charged with Possession of Stolen Property Over $10,000, Felony Evading, Reckless Endangerment, Driving on a Suspended License, Reckless Driving, Speeding, and Improper Passing.
