Cardi B is being called out by fans for fatphobic comments he made. She’s not going to apologize, though.

Cardi B is well-known for saying whatever she wants. While her fans mostly love her for her attitude, not everyone is amused. The rapper took things to a new level recently when she made a series of fatphobic comments aimed at the very fans buying her merchandise. Several fans and influencers have clapped back. They tried to point out the error in her ways, but Cardi B is having none of it. The “Please Me” artist returned to social media to double down on her comments. She is claiming it’s “not that serious,” and labeling fans who were offended by her comments as too sensitive.

Cardi B has found herself embroiled in controversy after a merch drop. In an Instagram Live event following the release of merch connected to her Am I The Drama? album, the music artist discussed how quickly her merch sold out. She shared her surprise at the sizes that sold quickly. Cardi B noted that they were completely out of all 3XL merchandise. If she had stopped there, everything would have been fine, but she didn’t stop there.

Cardi B continued, saying, “We really underestimated the box sets… So the box sets are completely sold out, especially because you fat f***s—clearly you guys are fat as f**k, no Chick-fil-A for y’all.” It didn’t stop there. She went on to bemoan how she couldn’t “make fun” of “fat people” anymore, now that she knew her fans were fat.

Cardi B doubles down after being called out

Cardi B doesn’t really care what fans have to say about her. When called out by fans, followers, and even people who purchased the merch that started this all, she opted to double down instead of apologizing. The rapper used portions of a well-known influencer’s clapback in her own stitch before telling her to “shut the f**k up.” She went on to insist that what she said “wasn’t that serious” and labeled anyone offended by her words “too sensitive.”

The latest update has done little to shore up the rapper’s image. While her loyal fans insist Cardi B is free to say whatever she wants, the lack of accountability has led to some pretty serious debate elsewhere online. Several Reddit users have noted that it is not the first time Cardi B has made offensive comments. It’s not the first time she’s tried to label offensive comments as “not that serious,” either. Others point out that her continued mean girl energy, especially towards her own fans, is problematic.

Cardi B’s current stance is a strange 180 from how she acted just a few years ago when Lizzo publicly broke down over fatphobic comments. Cardi B stepped forward to defend her fellow artist. She pointed out that when someone “stands up for themselves,” they are labeled “too sensitive.”

The drama is still developing, but her album is still slated for a September 19 release.
