Since The Bear is one of the most acclaimed and talked-about modern TV shows, it seems like everyone has opinions about the show. For example, there are people who argue that Carmen ‘Carmy’ Berzatto’s loved ones on the show shouldn’t let him give up his career so easily. On top of that, The Bear’s stars have opinions about the show, like Abby Elliott wanting a surprising cameo and Ebon Moss-Bachrach initially thinking the cameos would ruin the show.
After starring in great movies and being so beautiful that she has distracted celebrities, Jamie Lee Curtis undeniably has become a legend. As a result, it makes sense that the world always seems like they want to see more of Jamie. Despite that, Jamie once completely rejected the idea of starring in a spin-off of The Bear as Donna Berzatto.
Jamie Lee Curtis Has No Interest In Starring In A Spin-Off Of The Bear
Since The Bear premiered, many of its actors have received near universal praise for their work on the show. Of course, it shouldn’t surprise anyone that it has mostly been the members of The Bear’s main cast whose performances have garnered the most accolades and praise.
However, one actor from The Bear who has only made a handful of appearances has also been singled out a lot. Due to how powerful Jamie Lee Curtis’ The Bear performance has been, she has won a lot of praise and even a Primetime Emmy Award.
Since Jamie’s The Bear role has garnered so much attention, some people may want her to see more of her character from the show, Donna Berzatto. However, anyone who hoped to see her branch out as the character may be disappointed to know that Jamie ruled out the possibility of starring as Donna in a spin-off of The Bear.
On July 19th, 2025, Variety published an article based on an interview they conducted with Jamie Lee Curtis at that time.

While speaking to Variety, Jamie was asked about the prospect of starring in a spin-off of The Bear, and she didn’t mince words. Instead, Jamie Lee Curtis categorically rejected the idea of starring in a spin-off of The Bear.
Given that Jamie made it very clear she had no interest in the proposed idea of a spin-off, it is fascinating to look at what she has said about The Bear.
Considering that Jamie doesn’t want to portray Donna in another show, some people could suspect that she doesn’t like portraying the character.
In December 2023, The Bear star Jeremy Allen White told Variety how impressed he was when he got to act with Jamie Lee Curtis on the show. “[Jamie Lee Curtis] was so excellent, so prepared. She understood Donna prior to ever stepping foot on set. It’s quite a difficult thing to do, even for actors as established as Jamie to step into a world and very quickly make a choice, flesh out a character and fit into the environment that’s already been established. And she just knew. She just understood.”
However, other comments that the legendary actor has made prove that isn’t the case.
As a part of Variety’s aforementioned July 2025 article about Jamie Lee Curtis, they quoted her talking about The Bear.

While speaking about the show, Jamie unreservedly praised The Bear and spoke about how happy she was to be part the show.
“It’s just beautiful. It’s a beautiful show and I’m thrilled to be a part of it. I love it. I’m a fan of the show. I was a fan from the beginning and so I just love the stories they tell and the characters they create.”
It is also important to note that Jamie Lee Curtis hasn’t only praised The Bear in public.
Since actors almost always praise whatever show or movie they star in, at least at first, it makes sense for observers to be skeptical.
However, there is no doubt that Jamie is proud of The Bear when she is speaking about the series in private. After all, another actor who became part of The Bear revealed he agreed to take his role after Jamie Lee Curtis convinced him how great it is.
In July 2025, Rob Reiner spoke to People about his cameo role during The Bear Season 4. During that interview, Rob explained that he took his The Bear role because his friend Jamie Lee Curtis convinced him he should.
“She had told me she was on the seasons before, and then when I was asked to do it, I said, ‘I don’t know,’ and she said, ‘No, you’ve got to do it! It’s really fun!'”
Clearly, Jamie Lee Curtis loves being part of The Bear, even though she has no interest in being part of a potential spin-off.
Many The Bear Fans Think That Proposed Spin-Offs Are A Bad Idea
Since The Bear has become a huge show, it seems like it would be inevitable that some fans would be interested in it getting a spin-off. With that in mind, it makes sense that a July 2024 Collider article argued that The Bear should get a spin-off based on the show’s Fak family.
However, a July 2025 post on the r/TheBear subreddit proves that many of The Bear’s biggest fans are completely against a spin-off focused on the Fak family. The top most-upvoted response to the post showed how against the idea of that The Bear spin-off many fans are.
“Shoot me.”
Another fan responded to the proposed spin-off by writing, “Nooo,” and a third’s reaction was concise as well. “Hard pass.”
An August 2024 post on the r/TheBear subreddit suggested that there should be a spin-off focused on Michael “Mikey” Berzatto. The fan who made that post wrote a long argument for the proposed spin-off’s merits. However, the top most-upvoted response yet again rejected the proposed The Bear spin-off idea.
“Not for me. Since we all know how the storyline of Michael goes, I am absolutely fine with the flashbacks.”
The next two most-upvoted responses also rejected the spin-off concept. The second most popular began with two words, “Honestly no.” The next response the rejected the proposed spin-off idea started in a much more savage way. “This would be awful.” Worst of all, one of the responses completely dismissed the idea with one word. “Yawn.”
